To All Our Brave Soldiers:
On September 10 through September 19, 2007, Capitol Hill in Washington DC, was covered with patriotic Americans who support and honor your service. Veterans, Active Duty Soldiers and military families delivered a message to the Congress and the Senate: SUPPORT OUR SOLDIERS AND THEIR GENERALS, AND SUPPORT THEIR MISSION FOR VICTORY IN THE MIDDLE EAST!!!
I believe this message was most powerfully delivered by one of your very own, a man who exemplifies the devotion and dedication of the Band of Brothers. He is Chris Hill, National Director of The Gathering Of Eagles, and he gave a rousing speech on September 15th, in Washington DC, in support of our Soldiers. He is a warrior, and with his steely and stoic character of the Infantryman he is, he delivered this message to the obnoxious anti-war protestors, or as he calls them, “miscreants”:

Make no mistake, as we lined Pennsylvania Avenue to confront the “miscreants”, our hearts beat like a “battalion of 155 cannons going off” and we proudly stood shoulder to shoulder in support of our troops. All over Washington, our boots were on the ground to remind legislators that our troops are loved and revered and we will not allow them to be ill treated or forgotten!
Merrilee Carlson and Families United For Our Troops and
Their Mission organized a massive effort in support of our Soldiers and their mission. Merrilee is a Gold Star Mom and Proud Mother of an American Hero, Army Sergeant Michael Carlson. I am proud to have met her, really proud. She is a grand lady who honors her son’s memory by her shining example of strength. Merrilee and her profound organization brought 600 military families to Washington, enabling all of us to deliver our messages of support for our troops and their mission! Thanks to their efforts we also toured beloved monuments and had breakfast with the President and First Lady on the White House Lawn! What an honorable event for all of us. President Bush thanked you Brave Soldiers serving in the face of danger and spoke of his pride in you. He also had a special message:
“The best way to honor the sacrifices that your loved one made, as well as the sacrifice you have made, is to accomplish the mission, is to achieve the peace.”
This extremely well organized and brilliant effort by Families United, Gathering of Eagles, Vets For Freedom, Move America Forward, and many other groups, resulted in victory, as the timeline was withdrawn! As Chris Hill so forcefully stated “We are taking our country back,” and this victory is testament to that.
The Band of Mothers has a message to Gold Star Moms Merrilee Carlson and Debbie Lee: You are shining examples of Proud American Mothers and we stand in awe of your strength, devotion and tenacious spirit. The Band of Mothers will continue to promote respect and garner support for our brave men and women, and we honor and revere you and all Gold Star Families as we do this. Our hearts are with you in your sacrifice and thank you for all you are doing.
Our very special thanks to Vets For Freedom. These are veterans and active duty Soldiers who advocate relentlessly on behalf of our Soldiers. I witnessed these Warriors in action in Senator Schumer’s office and they are force to be reckoned with. I was so proud to stand with them.
What good work we accomplished! All of us, collectively, we are the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, and never again we will allow our brave men in women in uniform to be abandoned or abused! As my good friend Angela Lashley, myself, and members of the Gathering of Eagles defended a recruiting station against the moonbats on September 17th in DC, we saw them come and we watched them leave. They yelled and screamed, got tired and left, and we were still standing, the proud and stoic supporters of our brave men and women of the United States Military!
To Capt. Larry Bailey, Chris Hill, Kristinn Taylor and all the tough and fiercely patriotic members of The Gathering of Eagles, I especially want to thank you for all you are doing daily to Step Up Stand Up and Stick Up for our Soldiers. I am so very proud to be a member and stand among you because you are, in Chris Hill’s memorable words, “TAKING OUR COUNTRY BACK!”
To my brave Son Johnny, a ways now into your 4th deployment, this “update” is for you and all your comrades. We are proud of you and we want you to know, as Chris Hill said, “You keep fighting there and we’ll keep fighting here!” We love you, honor you and revere you. You are our Noble Heroes, and we are a grateful nation.
Founder, The Band of Mothers
The following is a song recorded by the Great American John Wayne, called "Face The Flag": Take Heed America:
Face the Flag, son, and face
So do what you've got to do, but
always keep in mind,
Face the Flag, son...and thank God it's still there.
